MYL questions ‘delay’ in probing nepotism charge

Alleged appointment of Minister’s kin to key post at KSMDFC

The Muslim Youth League (MYL) has sought an explanation from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan a to why he was reluctant to order an investigation into the alleged charge of nepotism against Minister for Higher Education K.T. Jaleel.

‘No action taken’

Briefing the media here on Monday, MYL State general secretary P.K. Firos alleged that the Chief Minister’s Office had been sitting on a file seeking action on the alleged illegal appointment of the Minister’s relative, K.T. Adeeb, to the post of the general manager of Kerala State Minority Development Finance Corporation(KSMDFC).

Complaint to VACB

The MYL had submitted a complaint to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) against the Minister two months ago.

Subsequently, the VACB had sought the response of the State government on November 28. Now, the Chief Minister’s Office is yet to act on the complaint, Mr. Firos alleged.
