The police will seek the custody of the 33-year-old woman who was remanded in judicial custody earlier this week on charges of killing her four-year-old daughter allegedly following a quarrel with her husband over phone.
The application for custody will be submitted to the court after the police get her medical fitness certificate.
The police said K. Safoora, who attempted suicide after allegedly killing her daughter on Wednesday, was found mentally unstable at the time of her arrest.
Her medical history would be checked to verify whether she had undergone medication for any mental illness earlier.
Meanwhile, forensic experts inspected the spot of crime, where the woman allegedly drowned her elder child in a bucket and attempted to kill the younger one. Samples of the blood stain, suspected to be of the mother, were also collected from the spot.
