Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will open the newly constructed Golden Jubilee Memorial Aquatic Complex at Calicut University on February 20. The project, jointly sanctioned by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the State government, was completed at a cost of ₹7 crore.

Calicut University Vice Chancellor K. Mohammed Basheer told a press conference here on Saturday that the aquatic complex, which was completed in three years, would be beneficial for both students and the general public. The construction of the complex was in line with international standards, he said.

The complex has a 50-metre swimming pool, separate 25-metre pool for training, changing rooms, and a water treatment plant. The UGC alone sanctioned ₹2.33 crore for the project.

Minister for Higher Education K.T. Jaleel and Industries Minister E.P. Jayarajan will address the opening event.
