‘Janakeeyam ee Athijeevanam’, a public convention to commemorate the stories of survival during the last year’s devastating floods and landslips, will be held at Mary Matha Cathedral Hall, Thamarassery on July 20.

Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran will open the event, which will be attended by people’s representatives, voluntary organisation leaders and rescue workers. Minister for Excise and Labour T.P. Ramakrishnan will give away the aids for selected beneficiaries on the occasion. District Collector S. Sambasiva Rao will present a report on the post-flood relief and reconstruction activities carried out in the district. Karat Razak, MLA, will preside over the function.

According to programme coordinators, the suggestions from elected representatives and other speakers will be considered for the further expansion of the ‘Rebuild Kerala Initiative’ of the government. Similar conventions will be held on the same day in all districts.
