The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM-K) will hold its annual management festival--Backwaters 2015 on the institute campus from October 30 to November 1.
Three-day event
The three-day event will have a wide variety of competition in different disciplines including those which will put the top B-school talents through a series of gruelling tasks to test their diverse skills and operational excellence, said an official release here.
Talk series
The campus unit of TEDx will also host its talk series on the theme, ‘Uncharted Territory’ as part of the event on November 1. Arunabh Das Sharma, current president of Times Group, Archana Sardana, India’s first woman civilian-base jumper and deep sea diver, Malvika Iyer, bomb-blast survivor, social worker and motivational speaker, V. .S Sudhakar, co-founder of Big Basket and founder of “More” under Aditya Birla Group, will be some of the speakers at the TEDx event.
As part of IIMK’s social outreach initiative, Backwaters will also hold a special programme called ‘Shiksha,’ where students from under-graduate colleges and schools get an opportunity to interact with and get career guidance from eminent IIM professors, professionals and motivational speakers.
This is being organised by IIMK’s Social Service Group, Health Care Foundation and Career Launcher.
A participant will also be able to test his or her acumen in various disciplines of management through different events such as, Tek-Quest by Abakus-the technology interest group, Stratagem by Konsult-the consulting interest group, On-The-Mark by mPower-the marketing interest group and Konflict Management by HRiday-the HR interest group. Apart from these, some of the online events are Pips n Profit (online trading competition), Spice Route (online quiz) and Optimus (supply chain simulation game).
Band performance
To spice-up the nights, there will be performances by Vir Das who will be performing along with his band, Alien Chutney and Celio, leading stand-up comedian, movie-star and singer on October 30.
Sufi-pop
Raeth, a sufi pop rock band will also be performing on the campus on November 1, a pressnote said.
