Marketing continues to be the biggest challenge for all entrepreneurs, but the Kudumbasree Mission will be able face it with its entry into e-commerce, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating ‘Vaibhav-2017’, a 10-day cultural fiesta and trade fair, which also marked the launch of Kudumbasree e-commerce portal www.vaibhavonline.in, at Swapna Nagari here on Friday.

Mr. Vijayan said the expansion of e-commerce would help customers get their favourite Kudumbasree products on their doorstep. “The postal department will be joining with the Kudumbasree in the venture,” he said. The Chief Minister said the State government would invest ₹161 crore during 2017-18 in Kudumbasree projects. This would be in addition to the Union government’s latest allocation of ₹90 crore under the National Rural Livelihood Mission. Describing the Kudumbasree as a global model for women empowerment, he said its biggest contribution to Kerala was poverty alleviation.

Minister for Health and Social Justice K.K. Shylaja, who launched the e-commerce portal, said it was time for the Kudumbasree to turn its attention towards the protection of children from exploitation. Women entrepreneurs should take up such issues and make empowerment of children too part of the mission, she said.
