With expected participation of about 2,500 contestants, the three-day Kozhikode Revenue District School Arts Festival will begin at Vadakara on November 21. In the wake of the monsoon-related calamities in the State, the festival will be a low-key affair this time.
Education Department authorities said the initial plan had been to complete the district-level festival in two days, but it proved difficult, given the increased number of participants. There would be over 100 events and it would be held in 10 selected spots in and around Vadakara, they said.
20 venues
In Vadakara, there will be 20 venues to host the events. The schools selected for hosting the events include St. Antony’s Girls Higher Secondary School, St. Antony’s Junior Basic School, BEM Higher Secondary School, MUM Higher Secondary School, Sree Narayana Higher Secondary School, SGMSB Upper Primary School, Town Hall, Government Model Higher Secondary School and Government Sanskrit Higher Secondary School.
There will not be contestants from lower primary and upper primary segments at the district-level festival this time. Officials said lower primary and upper primary students were given an opportunity at the sub district-level.
Similar arrangements were made in other districts as well with the consent of the Directorate of Public Instruction.
The officials said arrangements would be made to make available real-time results of the stage events with blog updates. Off-stage events had already been completed in Kozhikode, they added.
