Hostellers at the men’s block 4 of the Government Medical College Hospital on Monday took out a march to the office of the Chief Warden and Principal of the college C. Ravindran demanding his intervention in the long-pending grievances of the inmates, including alleged harassment by the assistant warden of the hostel.

The hostellers gathered in front of the Principal’s chamber on the campus and raised slogans against the assistant warden. After the initial “reluctance” to meet the agitators, the Principal agreed to talk to the representatives of the hostellers and promised to look into their problems. “We have submitted a list of our genuine grievances to the Principal, including about the continuing harassment of the inmates by the assistant warden,” said Siyad Ahammed students’ representative and former secretary of the hostel. The Principal, he said, had promised to look into the complaints and take necessary action after conducting an inquiry into the issue. “He has assured to hold an inquiry”.
