Jolly Shaju, the prime suspect in the Koodathayi serial killing case, has again been sent in police custody for three more days. It is for gathering further evidence in the alleged murder of Alphine, the youngest victim.
The custody application was considered by the Thamarassery munsif court on Friday.
Jolly had been given in police custody for four days for gathering evidence in the same case. Though Jolly’s advocate challenged the extension of her custody, the court approved the prosecution’s argument that she was needed in custody to complete the evidence gathering process by various investigation squads.
The District Crime Branch sources said Jolly’s custody was sought again to track details of some suspicious telephone calls made by her to various individuals. She is also suspected of involvement in other similar incidents, they added.
On Saturday, the investigation team will move the munsif court again seeking permission to collect Jolly’s handwriting samples for detailed analysis. Crime Branch sources said it was required to prove her suspected involvement in forging the will of her father-in-law, one of the six victims, to grab his family property.
