IUML woman files papers from Dubai

October 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Kozhikode:

A woman candidate of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) from here has filed her nominations from Dubai.

IUML leader A. Aamina filed her nominations and took the oath of candidacy before the representative of the Indian Consulate General of India in Dubai.

The 56-year-old teacher will contest from Parakkadavu division of Thooneri block panchayat.

She left Kozhikode recently to be with her daughter in Dubai. She is also the incumbent president of the Chekkiyad grama panchayat.

Incidentally, she had filed her nominations from the Gulf nation in 2010 also. Ms. Aamina plans to fly down when the election campaigning picks up.

District Collector N. Prasanth said that oath of candidacy could be taken before a diplomat or a consulate representative if the candidate was outside the country.

This was similar to the candidate taking the oath of candidacy before the Jail Superintendent or Hospital Superintendent if he or she was a remand prisoner or admitted in a hospital respectively.
