It’s secularism vs communalismin Manjeswaram, says Kodiyeri

RSS trying to turn Sabarimala into a war zone: CPI(M) State secretary

Communist Party Of India (Marxist) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has said that the Manjeswaram by-election is a matter of secularism versus communalism.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, he said recognising this fact the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were trying to create communal polarisation here.

Mr. Balakrishnan said LDF nominee M. Shankar Rai is a candidate from the constituency. His acceptance among the people has caused alarm in the UDF and the BJP, he said.

The Indian Union Muslim League is seeking vote on the lie that the BJP is likely to win the election. The Congress propoganda is that the LDF has formed an alliance with the BJP. Both are meant to confuse the voters, he said.

The LDF government would implement the Supreme Court order on Sabarimala. At present, there is no issues at Sabarimala. But, the RSS is trying to turn Sabarimala into a war zone, he alleged. “The Sangh Parivar was linked to the court’s decision to admit women to Sabarimala and they are the ones who created the problem. People have understood all these facts,” he said and added that their attempt is to mislead the devotees for their political mileage.

Mr. Balakrishnan said the Congress and the Muslim League are in agreement with the RSS. This is evident by the fact that three RSS men won the Koothuparamba Thokkilangadi school society election, he said.
