ISM to take pledge against ISIS

The anniversary of the Quran Learning School functioning under the Ithihadu Shubbanil Mujahideen (ISM), youth wing of the Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen (KNM), will be held at Kuttiyadi in the district on October 11.

About 25,000 students from various centres in India and abroad would take part in the programmes, ISM president A.I. Abdul Majeed told a news conference here on Tuesday.

On the occasion, hundreds of youth would also take a pledge against the ‘extremist’ ideology propaganda by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. This would also mark the KNM’s official launch of its campaign against the moves of ISIS trying to spread its tentacles among the Muslim community in the State.

' Such a pledge very much relevant'

Mr. Majeed said the confirmation that a youth from Kozhikode had joined the ISIS ranks as well as the deportation of several people from Gulf countries such as UAE to the State for suspected ISIS activities were shocking. A pledge against the ISIS was very much relevant at this time, he said, adding that the ISM had already undertaken campaigns against ISIS in all major towns in the State from September 11.

An attempt is being made to influence the youth through the arguments of fake spiritualism and religious-nationalism. The pledge would be taken during the main session. Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty; Mullappally Ramachandran, MP; Janata Dal (United) leader M.P. Veerendrakumar, CPI (M) leader T.P. Ramakrishnan and IUML leader M.P. Abdussamad Samadani would take part in the programme.
