Elaborate security arrangements are in place in the city ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. He will address Vijay Sankalp rally on Kozhikode beach on Friday.

Around 2,000 personnel, including commandos and armed forces personnel, will ensure flawless security cover for the Prime Minister.

A high-level meeting chaired by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Sheikh Darvesh Saheb was held on Thursday at the Police Club to review the final security arrangements. Senior police officers from seven north Kerala districts attended the meeting. A trial run was also conducted to check security arrangements on the instructions of the Special Protection Group (SPG). The Prime Minister is expected to reach the venue by road at 6.30 p.m. from the Calicut international airport. He will spend around 40 minutes at the venue and leave by 7.10 p.m. No public entry will be permitted to the venue after 4 p.m. Traffic regulations will be in place on the Kozhikode-Malappuram route from 2 p.m. Private vehicles will not be allowed to enter the main venue on Kozhikode beach from 2 p.m.

According to the traffic police, vehicles coming from Thalassery, Vadakara, Perambra, and Ulliyeri should take the Poolakikunnu- Eranjikkal-Vengali overbridge and reach the Puthiyappa beach and drop rally participants at Gandhi Road Junction. Vehicles coming from Malappuram side should take Ramanattukara, Meenchanda, Kallai and Pushpa Junction route and proceed along Francis Road to reach Valiyangadi Junction.

Similarly, vehicles from Thamarassery and Mukkom sides should take the Malaparamba-Eranhipalam-Karaparamba-East Hill-West Hill-Varakkal route to reach Gandhi Road Junction. Vehicles coming from the medical college side should take the Thondayad-Malaparamba-Eranhipalam- Karaparamba-East Hill-West Hill-Varakkal route to reach Gandhi Road Junction. Vehicles from Balussery and Kakkoor sides should take the Vengeri-Karikkamkulam-Karaparamba-East Hill-West Hill-Varakkal route to reach Gandhi Road Junction.
