The Hindu and Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) will jointly host a football tournament — SERVO Mechanic League Football Cup Powered by The Hindu — for the first time on November 16 and 17 for the mechanics of Malabar region.
Sixteen teams will participate in the event to be held at JDT Ground, Vellimadukunnu, and Physical Education Ground, East Hill, Kozhikode. This is the first time that a football tournament for mechanics is held in Kozhikode.
On the first day, there will be a knock-out round among the 16 teams, leading to four quarter-final matches to select the semi-finalists. The semi-finals and final will be played on the second day.
The winning team will be awarded ₹20,000 cash prize and a trophy and the runner-up will be awarded ₹10,000 and a trophy. Prize distribution will be held at the AutoMech 2019 Expo at the police ground, Kannur, on November 23.
The tournament is supported by Association of Automobile Workshops Kerala (AAWK). Meitra Hospital, Kozhikode, is the medical partner.
