M.K. Raghavan, MP, took up several issues pertaining to the development needs of railway stations in Kozhikode Lok Sabha constituency with Southern Railway General Manager R.K. Kulshrestha in Chennai on Monday.

According to a pressnote here, Mr. Raghavan discussed the issue of constructing a pitline at the Kozhikode railway station and commencing of new trains and extending the existing long-haul trains via Kozhikode. He also reviewed with other railway officials the process of transforming Kozhikode into a world-class railway station.

The setting up of a parcel centre, an ATM kiosk, a restaurant, and an escalator on the fourth platform of the Kozhikode station were discussed in the meeting.

Some of the issues connected with Feroke and Kadalundi railway stations were also taken up with the railway officials, said Mr. Raghavan.

The meeting was a follow-up to the discussion he had with the Palakkad Divisional Railway Manager Pratap Singh Shami in July this year, he said.
