Focus on conservation of nature, its resources

Stress on need to exploit the intellectual capacity of human beings.

Speakers at the 17th Asia-Pacific Youth Conference of the OISCA South India Chapter on Sunday stressed the need to exploit the intellectual capacity of human beings for the effective conservation of nature and the protection of its valuable resources for future generations.

Launching the scientific seminar series on three major topics on nature and environment at the Malabar Palace here, Yoshiko Y. Nakano, the president of OISCA International, said the world was currently witnessing the misuse of human intellect for exploiting nature. “It is high time we understood the fact that the survival of the human race is at the mercy of the earth,” she said.

Global warming threats

Referring to threats of global warming, Ms. Nakano said attempts to tackle the same were yet to emerge as a priority across the globe. “We cannot consider economic development as the only criterion to assess the development of a country. Cultural renaissance too should be part of it,” she added.
