KOZHIKODE: The faithful in the district on Monday celebrated Eid, commonly known as Cheriya Perunnal, marking the culmination of Islam’s holy month of Ramzan fasting.
Various Mahal committees organised Idgah and Eid prayers at mosques.
Owing to rain, Idgahs, which are usually held at open spaces, were shifted to mosques this time.
Prayers were held at Mishkal Mosque at Kuttichira, Pattalam Mosque at Mananchira, Markaz Juma Masjid, and Chaliyam Juma Masjid.
Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen leaders T.P. Abdulla Koya Madani and Hussain Madavoor and Kozhikode Khazi K.V. Imbichammad Haji led the prayers.

The faithful were also joined by members of other religious communities in the festivities. Delicious food and family visits were part of the celebrations. Most shopping establishments were decorated to herald the occasion of Eid.
A large number of migrant labourers too joined the celebrations.
