October 19, 2017 09:45 pm | Updated 09:45 pm IST - Kozhikode

The Comtrust Weaving Factory Workers Action Committee has demanded that the State government immediately take over the Comtrust Handloom factory at Mananchira and hand over the building to the Department of Archaeology.

The committee, which began a hunger strike in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram from Thursday, also asked the government to implement the order of the Industrial Tribunal in the factory case. The Comtrust factory, started 173 years ago by the German Basel Evangelical Missionaries, is a heritage asset.
