BJP State president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has alleged that the CPI(M) was attempting to push in left wing extremists, anti-nationals and atheists to enter the Sabarimala temple.

Addressing a protest against the alleged atrocities committed by the State government here on Wednesday, Mr. Pillai said that the CPI(M) had a sinister agenda to destroy the culture and traditions of the Ayyappa temple. The Supreme Court that pronounced a verdict allowing women of all ages to enter the temple had not compelled or forced a woman to enter the holy hillock.

However, the State government was trying to sneak in women. For the BJP, the Sabarimala issue was a fight for dharma. The party always stood for peaceful means, Mr. Pillai said.

He said that the BJP would take a collective decision to continue with the ongoing protest in front of Secretariat in the State capital. The party had also planned to change its tactics, he said.
