Even as local Congress leaders were getting ready to organise protests against the attack on the District Congress Committee office here allegedly by DYFI activists returning after their demonstrations in front of Collectorate on Thursday, CPI(M) leaders paid a visit to the office on Friday to condemn the incident. Following the visit, the Congress leaders called off their protest plans.

The CPI(M) delegation which visited the DCC office included party district secretary T.P. Ramakrishnan, A. Pradeep Kumar, MLA, and former Mayor and party district secretariat member K. Bhaskaran.

K.C. Babu, DCC general secretary, said the CPI(M) leaders made it clear their party leadership had no hand in the attack and promised action against those behind the incident.

M.K. Raghavan, MP, former Minister P. Sankaran, and KPCC general secretary Praveenkumar, were present when the Marxist leaders visited the DCC office. Mr. Babu said the protests planned against the attack were called off in the light of the visit.
