‘365 Days — Democracy and Secularism under the Modi Regime,’ a civil society report on violence and alleged Sangh Parivar threats against religious minorities, edited by John Dayal and Shabnam Hashmi, will be released at a function at the Alakapuri Auditorium here on Thursday.

K. Sureshkumar, adviser to the World Health Organisation (WHO), will release the book at the function jointly organised by the Secular Collective and the Keluettan Study and Research Centre.

Organisers said in a communication here on Wednesday that the report was an attempt to document the multipronged attacks unleashed on the democratic rights and secular values enshrined in the Constitution of India.

Tampered with

“The administrative, educational, legal, and scientific structures created since Independence have been tampered during the time,” they said.

The press release said the past one year witnessed attacks on scientific temper, rational thinking, and the scientific establishment.

It included providing credibility to myths and superstitions, misusing official platforms for anti-science activities, budget cuts, and the crippling of scientific institutes through political interference, the press release said.
