It was a proud moment for Kozhikode when the results of CBSE Plus Two examinations were declared.

Varsha Vijay of Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1. East Hill became one of the two toppers in Kerala, and Anusmita Biswas of Spring Valley School, NIT Calicut Campus, was on the list of the top 12 students from the State.

Varsha secured 99.2% (496 marks), while Anusmita got 98.8% (494 marks). Both had a CGPA of 10.0 in CBSE Class X exams two years ago. Anusmita is also the topper among girls in the State scoring 99.91 percentile in JEE Main 2019.

“I am planning to join B.Com at a good college either in Kochi or Kozhikode, and then get into any of the IIMs,” Varsha, whose core subjects were accountancy, economics, business studies, and informatics practices, said.

Her father K. Vijayakumar is a stenographer with Doordarshan Kendra, Kozhikode, and mother Sujatha is a homemaker.

Anusmita, who is preparing for JEE (Advanced ) exams scheduled for May 27 for admission to IITs, said she wanted to join the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. She has already secured 118th rank in the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Examination.

Her father Jayanta Biswas was with IIT-Bengaluru and mother Mukti Barai is an associate professor of electrical engineering at NITC.

The CBSE Plus Two results were encouraging for most students, as several schools recorded 100% pass percentage in Kozhikode city.
