Call to revoke hike in single-window registration fee

May 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:58 am IST - Kozhikode:

The Association of Kerala Government College Teachers (AKGCT) complained that the University of Calicut’s decision to levy Rs.250 as fees from students registering for degree courses through the single-window system was equivalent to robbery.

While hiking the registration fee from Rs.100 to Rs.250, the university had complicated the registration process by introducing e-payment, registration in two stages, corrections, and change of options. The students would have to shell out more money at the internet cafes and Akshaya centre for this.

The Higher Secondary Department and the other universities in the State had implemented the single-window system efficiently. However, the University of Calicut was still struggling in this matter. It had created many difficulties for the students in the previous two years.

The association demanded in a press release that the university revoke the increase in the registration fee and take steps to solve complications in registration.
