Balussery CHC upgraded as taluk hospital

The Health Department has upgraded the Balussery Community Health Centre (CHC) as taluk hospital. This was announced by local MLA Purushan Kadalundy at a press meet at the CHC here on Thursday, a release issued by the district administration said.

New departments, including maternity care, childcare and casualty facilities, would be started shortly at the hospital, said the MLA. “Twenty new posts will be created at the hospital,” said Mr. Kadalundy, adding that Rs.50 lakh had been allotted from his local area development fund for infrastructure development of the hospital.

At present the hospital has over 70 permanent employees, including four doctors.
