Attack on teacher’s house: police zero in on suspects

January 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Kozhikode:

The Nallalam police have zeroed in on members of a gang who recently attacked the house of M. Madhavikutty, professor at Zamorin’s Guruvayoorappan College, and destroyed her two cars.

A senior police officer said the arrest of all the accused in the case would be recorded shortly as all of them had been identified. “We have managed to locate their hideout, but it would take some time to bring them out,” he said.

Police sources said a gang that had earlier blocked the professor’s car in connection with a political clash on the campus had direct involvement in the attack.

The group comprised both students and outsiders, a source said.

Meantime, condemning the attack on the teacher, leaders of the All Kerala Private College Teachers Association said the incident was “well planned,” and the accused should be brought before the law at the earliest. Ms. Madhavikutty was targeted by the gang for her role in suspending a few students who were found responsible for leading frequent clashes on the campus, they said.
