With a view to improving delivery of various e-services, the Registration Department has trained 140 Akshaya entrepreneurs in the district with focus on quick processing of online applications.

The trained entrepreneurs will now handle property registration documents using the templates on the official portal of the department.

A majority of Akshaya centres have so far been handling only applications seeking encumbrance certificates and certified copies of other legal documents issued by the department. The trained entrepreneurs will cover services such as registration of chits, marriage, societies, and documents as well as stamp duty payment.

Akshaya officials said all services offered through the Registration Department portal would now be available at Akshaya centres. Moreover, Akshaya units can process property registration documents using the freely available template for download, though some document writers are not happy with it, they added.

Meanwhile, efforts are on to streamline the existing Akshaya services by linking them with the e-services of five other departments. Mainly, online services offered by Labour, Employment, Drugs Control and Factory and Boilers departments will be made available through Akshaya centres.

“In Kozhikode district, we have 187 Akshaya centres, and the mission is to equip all regional units to easily handle online services introduced by various departments. Moreover, the departments will introduce the features of all newly launched services to entrepreneurs during training sessions and clarify their doubts,” said Akshaya district project coordinator P.S. Ashitha. She added that two such training sessions by the Department of Labour and Employment were on the cards.

The Akshaya community has welcomed the initiative as it offers them a platform to learn the process directly from officials. Some entrepreneurs pointed out that it offered them an opportunity to update information and train their staff accordingly to improve services.
