: The Mukkom educational sub-district lifted the overall championship trophy at the three-day Kozhikode Revenue district sports meet that concluded at Kozhikode Medical College Ground, here, on Monday. Olympian P.T. Usha presented the trophies to the winners at the meet.

Mukkom retained its hold in the field for the seventh consecutive time by winning 292 points. Their contestants secured 33 gold medals and 29 silver medals displaying an unyielding sportsman spirit on the track. When Perambra educational sub-district emerged as runners up in the event securing 157 points, Balussery educational sub-district secured the third place with 91 points.

For Mukkom, the armour was its young talents from the Pulloorampara St. Joseph’s higher secondary school. The contestants from this school alone gifted 130 points. They alone managed to win 20 gold and 13 silver medals to pave way for a sweeping victory.

Students from Kulathuvayal St. George’s higher secondary school emerged as the highest scoring team for Perambra educational sub-district. They scored 86 points for the team. For the Balussery sub district, the top scores were students from the Poovambai AMHS.
