Kayaking to help youngsters know Kattampally river

Kayaking arranged in Kattampally river here on Sunday as part of the ‘Kattampally River Expedition’ organised by the district administration and the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) turned out to be a new experience to its participants.

The expedition was held under the initiative of District Collector Mir Mohammed Ali in association with Jellyfish Water Sports, Cheruvannur, as an event for closely learning the features of the Kattampally river, a tributary of the Valapattanam river, and for providing an occasion for promoting adventure sports.

The Kayaking tour was inaugurated by Ports Minister Kadannappally Ramachandran at the Kattampally boat jetty on Sunday morning.

Two trips

The expedition was organised in two trips, each comprising 25 participants each, including students of the Kannur Sports Division, National Institute of Fashion Technology, and the student beneficiaries of the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme as also residents of the Government Children’s Home here.
