400 students take part in Medicon

The fourth State convention of Medicon, a collective of students of government medical colleges in Kerala, concluded here on Tuesday. Around 400 students from various medical colleges in the State took part in the two-day convention held at Vattoli Sanskrit High School and Nagampara-Koodal Lower Primary School.

The convention organised by the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad featured discussions on topics such as unscientific tendencies in medical care, prevention and latest treatment methods in modern medicine. The discussions were chaired by eminent doctors from various disciplines.

The convention decided to carry out awareness classes against the unscientific trends in medicine, quakery, primary health care and public health besides scientific awareness classes among medical students. The convention also decided to open Parishad units in the medical colleges.
