June 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - Kolkata:

Bringing back the memories of the Aruna Shanbaug case, a 26-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped inside the premises of a prominent State-run hospital in Kolkata by a member of the staff on Friday night. The incident came to light late on Saturday night.

“Masum Ali alias Munna, a liftman at the RG Kar Hospital, and his relative Haider Ali have been arrested in the case yesterday (Saturday) and charged with gang-rape,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Subhankar Sinha told The Hindu . The two accused have been remanded in police custody by a city court on Saturday.

“The woman, a resident of Baharampur in Murshidabad district, came to Kolkata after she quarrelled with her family,” said Mr. Sinha. She was reportedly staying within the hospital compound after reaching Kolkata.
