A woman in her early 30s has filed a complaint at an east Kolkata police station, alleging she was repeatedly raped by the clients who frequented a beauty parlour, where she worked, near Park Street.

She alleged that she was also “gang-raped,” and the parlour owners shot it on a mobile phone to “blackmail” her, a police officer said. A medical examination done on the woman confirmed rape.

The survivor told the police that she joined the parlour on Mirza Ghalib Street as a worker, but she was “forced to have sex for many days.” She was told that it was video-graphed. As she tried to file complaints at the Park Street police station, she was “stopped and threatened.” “Perhaps, she was told that the images will be made public,” an official said.

Finally, she lodged a complaint with the Tiljala police, and three persons, including the woman who introduced her to the parlour owners, were arrested. The accused are in police custody till November 27.
