Two policemen injured in clash at Malda school

June 11, 2014 02:54 am | Updated 02:54 am IST - KOLKATA:

Two police personnel were injured when a mob threw stones at them in a clash at Akandaberia High School in Malda district on Tuesday.

To bring the situation under control, the police fired five rounds in air, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Malda said. It all started when a group of locals went to submit a memorandum to the head teacher of the school, who was allegedly ‘raising’ money from the students. Suddenly, the group turned violent and tried to ransack the school. The police resorted to ‘mild lathicharge’ to disperse the crowd, the SP said. No one has been detained.
