West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday said that Safe Drive, Save Life campaign of the State government has resulted in reduction of road accidents and fatalities.

“From 407 fatalities in 2016, the number has dropped to 294 in 2018 in the Kolkata Police area. This is a decline 27.7%,” Ms. Banerjee said at an event to mark the anniversary of the campaign.

The Chief Minister added that across the State, the number of fatalities in road accidents in 2016 was 6,951 and dropped to 5,711 in 2018, recording a decline of 17.8%.
