Roopa Ganguly flays Babul

Critical of the growing bonhomie between senior Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, State BJP leader and actor Roopa Ganguly had on Saturday raised questions whether they (senior leaders) had also spoken to Ms Banerjee about the frequent attacks on the party workers.

Ms Ganguly, who joined the party a few months ago, targeted Union Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo who had praised Ms Banerjee at an event on Friday. Mr Supriyo earlier this month had also joined Ms Banerjee while having snacks at a road-side eatery during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city.

Mr. Supriyo was offered a lift in Ms. Banerjee’s car on May 9 and the Chief Minister halted near Victoria Memorial to enjoy a quick snack of jhalmuri . On Friday, during an event of Coal India in the city, Mr. Supriyo had showered lavish praises on the TMC chairperson.

Criticising this, Ms. Ganguly said here on Saturday: “You [Mr. Supriyo] are enjoying jhalmuri with the Chief Minister. You could have asked while snacking with her why our [BJP] cadres are being beaten up by them [Trinamool Congress] in Bengal.”
