After the Congress government’s decision to implement the Centre’s health insurance scheme, Ayushman Bharat — Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana — an exercise has been launched here to merge the flagship scheme with the Bhamashah Swasthya Beema Yojana (BSBY), introduced by the previous BJP regime in Rajasthan.

The State is currently providing benefits under the BSBY to 97 lakh families, with a health insurance cover of ₹3 lakh per year. With the integration of the schemes, all eligible families will get benefits up to ₹5 lakh every year.

Medical & Health Minister Raghu Sharma said here on Tuesday that the premium for new scheme, to be implemented through government-run hospitals and empanelled private hospitals, would be paid by the Union and State governments in the 60:40 ratio.
