At a time when the party is facing one of its biggest crises, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Saturday asked her party members to approach her directly with their problems.

The remarks are crucial as party general secretary Mukul Roy who had dealt with the organisational affairs of the party over the past few years was not present at the meeting.

Though, the Chief Minister extended her support to those accused in the Saradha scam, she pointed out during the closed door meeting that those facing allegations will not lead any movement on behalf of the party.

At a core committee meeting held at her residence in Kolkata, Ms Banerjee asked her party leaders to avoid the media.

According to senior TMC leaders present at the meeting, the party chairperson said that the party will not yield “an inch to Opposition parties”.

She directed the party to prepare a list of people from the Opposition who are involved in any scam or financial wrongdoing.

During the meeting, Ms Banerjee pointed out that the Centre was trying to tarnish the party’s reputation by using Central agencies like the CBI.

She asked her party to reach out to the masses and conduct movements against anti-people policies of the Centre.
