Former Left Front leader daughter’s name figures in SSC merit list days after he joins TMC

A controversy has erupted with the daughter of former Left Front Minister Paresh Adhikari making it to the merit list of West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) Examination days after the All India Forward Bloc leader joined the Trinamool Congress.

Senior MLA of Communist Party of India (Marxist) Asok Bhattacharya wrote to State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee asking him to intervene into the matter.

“This cannot be a clerical mistake, this has happened at the highest level. The case is clear example of how the ruling party is using favour to win over leaders of Opposition parties,” Mr Bhattacharya said.

Paresh Adhikari joined the Trinamool Congress on August 17, 2018 and a few days later his daughter’s name figured in the merit list of the SSC examination. The SSC examination was held in 2016 and the results were declared in 2017.

According to sources the name of Paresh Adhikari daughter Ankita Adhikari was not in merit list for waitlisted candidates till few months ago. However, now her name is first among wait-listed females in the Scheduled Caste category.

State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee has denied all the allegations and said that the her name was already in the merit list.
