: BJP State president Rahul Sinha said here on Saturday that the Union government is not influencing the ongoing probe by the CBI in the Saradha scam.
The Supreme Court had directed a probe into the Saradha scam before the BJP-led NDA government came to power, so there is no question of the Centre influencing the probe.
Alleging that majority of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) leaders are involved in the Saradha scam, Mr. Sinha said that “from top to bottom the party is steeped in corruption.”
Referring to the arrest of Debabrata Sarkar, an official of the East Bengal club, the BJP leader said, “My prediction is that it will lead to arrest of higher ups in West Bengal.”
The Left Front, however, alleged that AITC leadership was in regular touch with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and wondered whether the probe will produce any results. If the truth (about Saradha scam) does not come out, then it has to be understood there are reasons behind it,” he said.
