A day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bardhaman in West Bengal, two women were injured in an explosion in an abandoned house in the district on Saturday.

NIA to probe

National Investigation Agency (NIA) officials who have investigated the October, 2013 blast at Khragragarh in the district, have sought details from senior police officers, Superintendent of Police Kunal Agarwal said.

Owner in jail

“Two women passing by the house were injured. The owner has been in jail in another case,” he said.

The explosion at Begunkhola village comes after Wednesday’s blast at an illegal firecracker unit at Pingla in West Midnapore killed 12 persons.

In the charge sheet in the Khragragarh blast case, the NIA said the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (Bangladesh) had built a network across the State to target the democratically elected government in Bangladesh.
