Enthused by the West Bengal government’s decision to make files on Subhas Chandra Bose public, Netaji’s family members on Sunday said they would be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October seeking declassification of similar files with the Central government.
The family spokesperson, Chandra Kumar Bose, told The Hindu on Sunday that the Prime Minister’s Office was in touch with him and it had sought the list of those from the family keen to meet the Prime Minister.
“The files with the West Bengal government are largely on snooping on the family members. Most of the files that can unravel the Netaji’s disappearance mystery are with the Indian government,” Mr. Bose said.
On September 11, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that all files on Netaji with the State government would be kept at the city police archive from September 18 for the public to access.
Mr. Bose said that along with the declassification of files with the Centre, attempts should be made by the government for declassifying secret files on Netaji by the erstwhile KGB and the British Secret Intelligence Service.
