West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra, who is facing a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Saradha Scam, claimed here on Saturday that the agency was “being made to walk the wrong path.”
In an obvious reference to the Centre he said that the agency was being those who were running it.
“This is what you call politics. There is nothing unfair in love, war and politics. Those who are behind this must remember the biggest power is that of the common man and the scenario can change anytime,” Mr. Mitra told journalists.
The Trinamool Congress leader considered close to party chairperson Mamata Banerjee said that the CBI was trying to “create things and dubbed the agency “creative bureau of investigation”.
Mr. Mitra’s comments come a day after party general secretary Mukul Roy said that the CBI was a political outfit and it had also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the past. Ms. Banerjje has also come down on the CBI stating that it was trying to shield “real culprits” in the scam.
Mr. Mitra also claimed of having not heard of his former personal assistant Bapi Karim since last three years. Mr. Karim was questioned by the CBI for several hours earlier this week.
The Minister said that Mr. Karim’s claims of having collected donation from Saradha is false.
