Zomato delivery boy dies in Chennai after private bus knocks over his vehicle

The 24-year-old was on his way for a delivery; police have registered a case against the bus driver

A 24-year old man was run over by a private bus in Ayanavaram late on Tuesday night. Police said the victim has been identified as Satheesh Kumar, 24, of Otteri. He was working as a delivery boy with Zomato.

Mr. Kumar, who was wearing a helmet, was riding his two-wheeler on Konnur High Road on Tuesday night, on his way for a delivery. A private bus, which came behind him, knocked his vehicle. In the impact, he fell from his vehicle and the rear wheel of bus ran over him.

Passers-by rushed him to Government Kilpauk Hospital where doctors referred him to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGH) for further treatment. He died on the way to RGGH.

Anna Nagar Traffic Investigation police registered a case against B. Balamurugan, 36, the bus driver, for rash and negligent driving and causing death due to negligence. He will be produced and remanded to judicial custody.
