A teacher’s complaint of being abducted on Thursday turned out to be a hoax, an investigation by the police revealed.
A 26-year-old woman, teaching at a leading city school, lodged a complaint at the Vepery police station claiming that she was abducted by an unidentified autorickshaw driver while she was returning from work in the evening. She jumped from the moving autorickshaw near Porur and managed to escape.
The police, after scrutinising CCTV footage, found that she had not boarded any autorickshaw. When she was confronted with the facts, she admitted that she had lied about the incident as she was betrothed recently but was not keen on the marriage.
