The Thiruvanmiyur police arrested a 25-year-old woman for attempting to kill her husband by staging a robbery drama.

A special police team from Adyar range arrested Anitha and her friend Anthony Jagan, who was hiding in the hostel of a college in Madurai on Sunday.

Anitha alias Vinodhini was married to Kathiravan a month ago.

The couple visited Thiruvanmiyur New Beach on Saturday when a group assaulted Mr. Kathiravan with a sharp metal object and robbed gold chains from Anitha.

Based on a complaint filed by Anitha, the Adyar police formed a team, which found that she had planned the attack.

Anitha was in love with Anthony Jagan, who is studying in a college in Madurai and had contacted him to eliminate Mr. Kathiravan.

They were produced before the judicial magistrate and sent to prison.
