The police arrested three more persons, including a 20-year-old woman, for allegedly kidnapping a college student, the woman’s boyfriend, in T.P. Chathiram on Thursday.

Naveeth Ahamed, 21, was returning home on his motorcycle on Thursday night, when he was intercepted by three persons in T.P. Chatram.

He was taken away on a motorcycle, confined to a secluded place near Jafferkhanpet and beaten up. They abandoned him after robbing him of his watch and cellphone.

He then managed to inform his parents about the attack and a complaint was lodged with the T.P. Chatiram police station.

Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Rajendran formed a special team to crack the case and on Saturday, two members of the gang were arrested.

During interrogation, the police learnt that Mr. Ahamed’s girlfriend Vasavi was behind the attack.

Call records checked

“After checking call records, we found that her friends Gokul and Abishek were involved in the incident as the two introduced the gang members to Vasavi,” said a senior police officer.

Vasavi was there in the locality when Naveeth was kidnapped, claimed the police officers.

“Vasavi is pursuing a course in the US. She claims there were some differences between the two and the kidnap was to teach him a lesson,” the officer said.
