Watch Saturn from May 23

A special sky watch programme will be organised at the B.M. Birla Planetarium, Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhi Mandapam Road to observe the planet Saturn through a telescope from 7 p.m. from May 23 to 27. A press release here said that since during that time, Earth passes between the Sun and Saturn, it will be relatively close to the Earth and will appear to be very bright. This year, the passing will be on May 23 and sky watchers can observe the planet throughout the night as it will set only by sunrise the next day. The ringed planet will be at a distance of 134 crore kilometres from the Earth during this time, the release added.
