Ahead of the Nadigar Sangam Elections on June 23, actor Vishal Krishna, the leader of the Pandavar Ani, and its rival team leader actor K. Bhagyaraj met actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan separately on Friday.

After releasing the manifesto, the Bhagyaraj-led team met Kamal and briefed him about their manifesto. Mr. Bhagyaraj said, “Mr. Kamal’s main desire was that the new Nadigar Sangam building should be built at the earliest and we certainly will do it.”

The camp, in its 27-point manifesto, promised that the new building will be finished in six months. Isari Ganesh of the team, said, “We will scrap the token system. As part of the token system, if an artist earns ₹200 a day, he would have to pay ₹25 to the sangam. This will no longer be essential.”

Also, under ‘Dr. MGR-Chevalier Sivaji’ ration scheme, senior members of the sangam would be given five kg of rice and one kg of pulses. There would be a home for the aged in Salem, Chennai and Madurai, he said. Mr. Vishal Krishna also called on Mr. Hassan to seek his support for the election. “The construction of the new Nadigar Sangam building will be completed in the next 5-6 months. A new faction has come up because of a few minor issues. We only ask for 100% participation in the election,” Mr. Vishal said.

After a video was put out by Vishal Film Factory detailing how Nadigar Sangam former president Sarathkumar had failed to deliver on his promises, actor Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Radhika Sarathkumar criticised Vishal.
