Vairamuthu’s novel bags book of the year award

Hindi translation of Kallikaattu Idhigaasam is the winner

The Hindi translation of poet Vairamuthu’s novel Kallikaattu Idhigaasam has won the Best Book of the Year award from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The book that won the Sahitya Akademi Award is being translated into 23 Indian languages by the Akademi and the Hindi translation titled Nagaphani Van Ka Itihaas was done by H. Balasubramaniyam last year. Mr Vairamuthu said he was informed about the award by Srinivasa Rao, secretary of Sahitya Akademi. “Usually, it is the Sahitya Akademi that gives away awards for literary works. “Now the Akademi is getting this award for its Hindi translation of my work, Kallikaattu Idhigaasam and it makes me feels special,” he said.
