MDMK general secretary Vaiko on Saturday expressed concern over incidents of cow vigilantes allegedly thrashing innocent people in Madhya Pradesh and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that the interests of minorities are protected.
In a statement, he congratulated Mr. Modi on his re-election as Prime Minister, but expressed shock over reports of attacks against minorities.
Suspected cow vigilantes allegedly thrashed three people in Madhya Pradesh’s Seoni with sticks, accusing them of carrying beef, Mr. Vaiko said.
He also referred to another incident in Gujarat, where members of upper castes stopped a Dalit wedding procession. Such incidents create fear, the MDMK leader pointed out.
