Two youths drowned in Puzhal lake when they went for a swim on Sunday evening in Red Hills police station limits.
The police said a large number of people thronged Pammathukulam village to watch a football tournament. Many took bath in the Puzhal lake to beat the heat. On Sunday, Vijayraj, 22, and Sam, 20, of N.S.K. Street in Puzhal went for a swim in the lake and drowned.
The Fire and Rescue Services personnel removed the two bodies after searching for a few hours. The police sent the bodies to the Government Stanley Hospital for post-mortem
The police have advised people to avoid entering the Puzhal lake.
